I was watching Woodstock and Monterey Pop Festival and thinking to myself ' singers now a days aren't that good live'. I mean sure we have The Stones still trying to recreate what they had but look at all the concerts now. Your not allowed to get up on stage with them and just dance...They are soooo concerned about the way they look that they never just let loose and have FUN! on stage. I mean Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and heck even Jim Morrison knew how to get into their music. They didn't care if they looked funny they just loved the music and had FUN. I've never seen Brittney Spears of Beyonce get up on stage and let loose. No, now a days their hair and makeup has to be perfect and they worry about their outfits and worry about trying to look sexy...It's sad but I guess thats what the world has become these days.....Too concerned with petty stuff to have fun......

They disappoint us because most singers nowadays have no real talent, most of the singers voice are edited. Like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton (not even the editing could help her case). And in general people are just being brain washed sublimely to like certain Artists. People don't like to admit it because they are afraid to admit of what is unseen (if you get my drift)
I went to The Killer's concert this year in May, this one fan through himself over the crowd, that was pretty funny, the killers aloud it. Some artists are real assholes (Avril Lavigne)

That music will never happen again - I saw Monterey Pop Festival too on TV and that's where Janis Joplin was discovered. There was SO MUCH talent - the focus was on THAT and not on what they wore. Love it!!!

you have to kiss many frogs before you find a prince. meaning there is a proliferation of "talent" out there and you have to search hard to find the real artists. MOst are over hyped and propped up by the market supported by youth listeners.

A) Because the industry has become so looks driven that it has become impossible to find another Aretha --- what are the chances of finding someone with a one in a billion voice and a one in a million body?
B) Because of the consolidation of radio. Only a few songs get played and they are played OVER and OVER so that horribly mediocre crap gets shoved down peoples' throats to the point that they think that's what they like.

You said it yourself, most are too concerned with appearance instead of the music. IMO Britney is just a celebrity who can con a bunch of people into making her sound good in studio through manipulation of the tapes. I loved it when a few years ago here in Dallas her lip-synch tape failed and she proved she could not sing.

Back then, musicians didn't have to rely on editing to sound good, so they were used to sounding just as good live as on tape.
Today's artists are always recording and editing and warping the sounds to where you don't hear the way they really sound anymore. You only hear the editing.
It's also not helpful that there are very few new ideas because we've already heard almost everything. Not much room for improvement, huh?

Ok~little one i understand you miss steve perry~well you arent the only one; it is commitment to what you do you either are commited or you arent harsh yes~for me i will keep hearing the vocalist that brings it without fail every show~i will tell you though if you are into joe satriani~if you like guitar players who just rock like nothing you have ever heard or witnessed~beleive it satch plays and sings with the guitar~satriani show is a must see for anyone~Well now that i told you that if this guy ever got a vocalist and made a couple albums you will like to see it that guy would have to be on top allways becuase joe don't play if you get my message~he is a disiplined hard teacher and because of this he has produced only the best in his buisness~this is true~pay attention lttle one to the music you listen to and appreciate how very difficult it is to make and play then i know you will find the real ones in the music.
